The Bandstand, Grand Parade, Eastbourne

Sorry - you don't seem to be able to view this picture

This was a bandstand concert given in the series of Wind, Concert and Brass Band concerts that have developed under the sponsorship of Eastbourne Borough Council. We are sure that the weather and the encouraging turnout coloured our views, but that does not hide the fact that Eastbourne puts on a magnificent series of concerts especially during the summer, and over the festival periods. See here for more details.

The day was not without other excitements -
Our percussionist was nearly imprisoned in Tonbridge by the Carnival going on that day -
One of our Saxophonists had to travel from Ashford by train.......
A third of our flute section took the slow route getting to Eastbourne, and got totally lost on the way back - still, Hastings is nice too!

It needs to be made clear that it really was quite sunny. And the Clarinets especially were going to end up with the sun on their heads. It was decided that hats were required for the exposed players, So a couple of flautists went off and found some. Some bartering ensued, and the hats procured. Here is Clive, modelling the latest in Wind Band fashion, along with flutes, oboes, saxes and horns in normal attire....

And (AND!), one of our members (might be Pat!) has spent a lot of time helping to create a good stage image for us: our music stand covers, first aired at Eastbourne.
