The Vine Bandstand, Sevenoaks June 2008

"Blowing In The Wind"

Once more a bandstand concert given under the banner "The Band Plays On", as part of the Sevenoaks Summer festival, and sponsored by Sevenoaks Town Council.

Our second visit to the Vine posed different problems for us than than our 2007 visit...
There was no rain - so the music did not get soggy. But there was wind. And more wind.
Solo clarinet parts are still to be found attached to the wickets at the northern end of the pitch.
West Side Story is renamed West, East, North and probably South Side Story.
Bryn, our conductor, perfected the technique of conducting us with one hand, holding on to his scores with his second hand, and catching sheets of the Holst Suite with his teeth.

And look! The bandstand has been repainted - in our colours!

We played on.

Further to our Eastbourne Bandstand concert, June 2008, we had the opportunity to present the band with stand covers and matching T-shirts.
